About the book

A practitioner’s account of project finance, drawn from a multi-billion-dollar transaction carried through to financial close.

A Practical Guide to Project Finance: Principles, Practices and Case Studies is written by Elchin Ibadov, with Nabil L. Khodadad, drawing directly on the real-world financing of the STAR Refinery, one of SOCAR Türkiye's flagship investments. It was academically reviewed by Koç University, with contributing authors from SOCAR Türkiye and international law firms.

The two case-study chapters walk through the actual Surgil Gas to Petrochemicals project and the actual STAR Refinery project in full, real numbers and real structures, from bankability through financial close.

The complete work, with all twelve chapters and both case studies in full, is available in print from Amazon, Ali & Nino and Libraff.
